Meet our Staff
Michael T. Fortson, M.D., was born and raised in Rome, Georgia. He received his Preceptorship from Mercer University and the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Fortson completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia and received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1989. Dr. Fortson completed his residency at St. Vincent’s medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.
Courtney Wheeler, PA-C, grew up in Las Vegas and attended California Luthern University in Thousands Oaks, CA where she received her BS in Biology. Courtney worked a couple of years in Physical Therapy before relocating to Atlanta. She then attended Emory University where she received her MMSc in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009. During her free time, Courtney enjoys being outdoors, exercising, and reading good books.
Stephanie Smith, APRN, FNP-C, was born and raised in Florence, Alabama. She attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2005. Stephanie later returned to graduate with a Masters of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Practice in 2009. She is a board certified member of the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She now resides in Atlanta with her friends and two dogs.
