We know that routine healthcare isn’t always convenient.
An echocardiogram, also called an echo, is a type of ultrasound test. During the test, high pitched waves echo off different parts of the heart. These echoes are turned into moving images of each section of the heart, which are viewed on a video screen. Echocardiograms are one of the most non-invasive ways to assess the overall function of your heart. They effectively can help diagnose physical problems with the heart, such as valve dysfunction, abnormal chamber size or even congenital heart disease.
Each test is performed in our state-of-the-art Imaging Center, which offers the best care and equipment for patients. Our cardiac team is skilled at performing a variety of echocardiogram tests including:
Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) – Obtains views of the heart by moving a device over the outside of the chest
Stress echocardiogram – Performed before and after your heart is stressed and monitors blood flow to your heart
Doppler echocardiogram – Analyzes how blood flows through heart chambers, valves and vessels
Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) – Utilizes a probe that is passed down the esophagus, instead of over the outside of the chest, to show clearer pictures of our heart
